ALBERTO FANELLI IN CONVERSATION WITH BANI HAYKAL

Expanding on the popular 2016 exhibition InSight: A Monumental 3D Journey, The City’s Double presents more stereoscopic photographs of Singapore’s monuments, back lanes and communities by Italian photographer Alberto Fanelli. Emulating the city tour sets of the 19th century, The City’s Double presents Fanelli’s journey through Singapore’s streets, with sound design by local artist Bani Haykal. With day and night images of Singapore, red and cyan representations, and a foreign and local perspective, The City’s Double offers a double-vision of Singapore - inviting us to see the city anew.

This special edition of “Singapore and the World” presents the Italian photographer Alberto Fanelli in conversation with Singaporean sound artist Bani Haykal as they discuss their artistic practices, and the process of presenting a stereoscopic installation of street photography and sounds of Singapore.

Presented by the National Museum of Singapore, the Embassy of Italy and Italian Cultural Institute in Singapore, The City’s Double is part of the National Museum’s programme “Singapore and the World”, which explores the contemporary and historical connections that tie Singapore to the wider world.
