"Gio Ponti and Tomaso Buzzi: Design Competition for an Italian Embassy in 1926"

On the occasion of the Singapore Design Week and the Italian International Design Day 2017, the Italian Cultural Institute presents an exhibition of original sketches and drawings by Gio’ Ponti and Tomaso Buzzi from 1926.

Ninety years ago, two young designers, Gio' Ponti and Tomaso Buzzi, won a national competition for furniture design for the Italian embassy, with the aim to encourage a new Italian furnishing style. Ponti and Buzzi quickly became a point of reference for Italian architecture by revolutionizing Italian contemporary design. This exhibition is a tribute to these two architects, highlighting a selection of their most significant drawings for that competition. The exhibit will be enriched by a showcase of Italian iconic design objects and furniture.

Dr. Giorgio Forni, president of the Fondazione Sartirana Arte and curator of the Exhibition, will be in attendance at the opening of the Exhibition.

Supported by Poltrona Frau and Artemide.
