What is the International Week of Italian Language and Culture?
The International Week of Italian Language and Culture is a global event for the promotion of Italian language as well as of Italian classical and contemporary culture. Every year, several events are organized in the third week of October by the cultural and diplomatic network of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the 88 Italian Cultural Institutes all around the world. Every year, the Week is a showcase of cultural and linguistic events around a specific theme that serves as red-wire for conferences, exhibitions and shows, talks and presentations with writers and Cultural personalities.
Founded in 2001 by an agreement between the Foreign Ministry and the Accademia della Crusca (the official Academy for the study and preservation of the Italian Language), the International Week of Italian Language and Culture has grown with each passing edition, with the participation not only all the Italian Institutes of Culture, but also all the Embassies and Consulates worldwide.
